Client: Mangrove GmbH
Year: 2020/2021
Sector: Energy Solution
Service: User research, Design analysis, Product design
Mangrove GmbH distributes voltage converters under the brand 'Bronson Energy'. They wanted to translate their insights in their own product development. Together we created the sub-brand 'Bronson Outdoor' and developed the Minimum Desirable Product of a lithium battery tailored to the needs of maritime electric mobility users. This enabled our client to efficiently test the market and generate capital for further development.
Electromobility on the water is becoming more and more common but the products are still lagging behind this development. There are hardly any purpose-designed products, so users resort to makeshift solutions such as the misuse of car batteries. We accompanied them and thus uncovered typical problems and behaviors that formed the basis of our design.
PROCESS
The potential analysis at the beginning of our collaboration formed the strategic basis for product development. The 'ready-made' design approach perfectly reflects the client's capabilities: The client has a lot of experience in the procurement of high-quality semi-finished products but little experience in developing its own products.. At the same time, this allowed the time-to-market to be greatly reduced.
When combining components from different manufacturers, we placed particular emphasis on a cohesive and robust appearance, in addition to making all relevant features usable. This significantly supports the important building of trust in a new brand.
