Boats, motorhomes and off-grid houses have much in common: they need custom made energy storage solutions. The available space is very limited and battery banks are built to fit. Special about this is the high proportion of amateurs who, although not professionals, dare to tackle this task themselves.
The battery was designed purposely for this context. Four instead of the usual two poles in their specific shape allow a variety of modular connections. Implementation can be as simple and compact as possible.
The wiring of the batteries among themselves is done by means of specially designed busbars. This means that appropriate cables do not have to be purchased, cut to length and crimped. This significantly reduces the installation's susceptibility to errors and speeds it up drastically overall.
No matter in which arrangement, the user is thus able to implement different serial or parallel circuits, depending on the power requirements.
A very popular and common way to install the batteries is to tension them with a belt. Especially when a flat arrangement is not possible. Inspired by this observation, we shaped the case explicitly to be secured by a strap. The special strap can also be used to carry the battery, as well as to be combined into a long strap to secure larger battery banks.
PROCESS
In our design process, we checked many details in reality. Especially with the screw connections of the poles, we had to ensure that the busbars could be installed quickly and safely.
